to all the action
stars...thats a long
list..Arnold,Van

• 11th July            Water ski and wakeboard session 2

After our fantastic water ski and wake board warm up session in July we are ready to take it to the next level on 11th July. We will start at 10 in the morning at Omszk lake so if you want to join us be there at least half an hour earlier. You can also come along just to support us from the shore and have a laugh. If you want to water ski or wake board it will cost you 2800 HUF an hour (2500 if we have more than 10 people) but watching is free! The price includes the use of skies or a wake board and a life vest. The number of people skiing at a given time is limited to about 12 by the number of ropes so if you want to try it make sure to sign up.

• 19th July            Sunday afternoon TEA pick-nick

On 19th July we set out to do something that we have not before. This will be our first Sunday afternoon TEA pick-nick or Margit island. We meet at the fountain (close to Margit bridge) at 16:00 in the afternoon and will walk to the greens and find a nice spot to settle down and have a pick-nick. Please bring your own blanket, food, badminton, flying disc, ball, board game or whatever you feel would be fun to do. Everyone is welcome to join!

• 30th July            TEA Time

After Greg Lance, Gretchen Meddaugh and Mary Murphy TEA Time proudly presents Nicolas Hackenberg as our next guest speaker on 30th July. Nicolas, originally from France, has been living and working in Hungary for the last couple of years and has managed to take his Hungarian skills to a level that few expats reach, still, he will be doing his presentation in English of course. Nicolas has been doing personal and corporate coaching helping people or whole organizations identify their goals and the very steps they need to take to achieve them.

TEA Time - Mary Murphy - Part 1 of 3

2009.06.28

Mary Murphy talks about The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything - a humorous reflection on the merits of living life without a plan

June

2009.06.28

June has probably been the most eventful and exciting month since the launch of TEA last September. The site went through some major changes, our membership card program was launched, more than a hundred new members signed up and we had three fantastic events. Most of you have probably encountered and even got used to the new menu and functions of the site by now. Some groups have generated quite a lot of comments – Jason’s Film Friends group seems to be the most active. The development of the groups and events features is not quite finished. We are still working to improve navigation on ...

Viktor Orbán re-elected

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com Viktor Orbán was re-elected as president of FIDESZ during the Party’s Saturday session. A week earlier FIDESZ, or the Alliance of Young Democrats, could successfully win several seats in the European Parliament along with the Jobbik Party, defeating the opposition the Hungarian Socialist Party. Mr Orbán said the victory was not a real victory for the party; it was more like an opportunity to start the real fight against the opposition. Tibor Navracsics went as far as to say Viktor Orbán would be Prime Minister next year.

News on swine flu

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com Members of the World Health Organisation have recently held an important, so-called emergency meeting to discuss the case of the ongoing swine flu. More are more people are getting affected by this new type of flu in countries such as the UK, Australia, Japan and Chile. At the end of the meeting the WHO decided to declare a global flu pandemic, says BBC. Global pandemic means that the illness in question has spread to at least two continents of the world with increasing cases to be seen. If we look at the details on the swine flu we can see that ...

Zimbabwe faces economic growth

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com If everything goes as planned, Zimbabwe’s economy could face an economic growth up to 6%. Right now the Zimbabwean Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai, is visiting the US as well as European nations to seek financial aid for his country. US President Barack Obama has already promised a 73-million dollar financial support. He noted, though, that the country still has to do much more in terms of democracy, human rights and the system of law. As Zimbabwean finance minister, Tendai Biti, told the World Economic Forum Zimbabwe could reach at least 4% ...

North Korea faces more sanctions

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com North Korea cannot stop its provocative actions towards other nations of the world. As a result of that its government is getting more and more isolated from it. They threatened the US that they would weaponise their plutonium stocks as well as the uranium they have if the United Nations tries to put forward tougher sanctions. Any kind of such attempt will be viewed as an “act-of-war”. Hillary Clinton called all these “deeply regrettable” and said appropriate actions would be taken against the country. Whenever UN nations can inspect any Korean ...

No Internet Explorer in Windows 7

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com Not long ago did Microsoft release the Release Candidate version of its upcoming operation system titled Windows 7. RC means the software is basically ready for commercial purposes, only some minor adjustments are needed to be made. Of course, the new OS comes with new versions of the good-old MS software such as Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and so on. However, Internet Explorer will not be present in those Win 7 versions that target European markets. Say what? Yes, no IE in a Windows for the first time. The European Commission fined ...

Antichrist soon to be released in the UK

2009.06.14

By Peter Hollo TheEnglishAdventure.com Strong real sex, bloody violence and self-mutilation – this is how the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has summarised Lars von Trier’s newest film, the Antichrist, which had been the main topic of almost all the talks at the latest Cannes Festival. These few words represent a warning message that explains only adults above the age of 18 are allowed to watch the film, due to be released at the end of July in the UK. Note that the release will be an uncut version of the film, hence BBFC’s decision. After the first screening of the movie ...

'Blue Ribbon Sailing Regatta', Lake Balaton, 3 - 5 July
"In the traditional Blue Ribbon Regatta, boats sail the entire length of Lake Balaton. Rooted in tradition this 200-kilometre race is the longest round-the-lake competition in Europe; it is organised biannually in the middle of July. The Blue Ribbon Regatta has been held on Lake Balaton since 1934.
Support Fair Trade in Hungary by Pledging Cash If We Finish The Balaton Swim
"As some of you know, Treehugger Dan and Kevin Jackson will be doing the Balaton Swim event on July 25th (weather permitting). The swim is 5.4km. I got to remembering doing mile-swim fundraisers as a kid on the swim team and thought, why can't we do the same thing for this? After some discussion, Kevin and I decided that the Fair Trade Campaign run by Vedegylet would be the most worthy beneficiary of our efforts.
